This is Eric Huttner, a life long gearhead with a
passion for off-roading. He is a Master Certified GM Mechanic and a
Certified H1 Tech. After years of off-roading all over the country and
having been stuck, broken and stranded
countess times, he finally decided to lend a hand and a hook to his fellow
offroaders and build this off-road wrecker. He formed what he called
the Recovery
Team and now travels with the wrecker to off-road events and recovers stuck and broken
4x4's for free.
The Wrecker is a 1986 GMC k30, it
was a used up, half parted out tow truck when I bought it. I installed 8in
of lift, 37.5x12.50r16.5 Hummer tires. The front wheels are the two piece H1
rims with the run-flats and bead locks inside. The rears are the stock dulie
wheels. The wrecker is powered by a mild 350 with a Weiand Stealth intake
and a 600 CFM Holly carb. It has a TH400 trans a NP205 t-case a Dana
60 front axle with 5.13 gears out back is a 14 bolt with 5.13 gears and a
gov. lock.
The wrecker box was made by Nomar it is
hydraulic and uses a Ramsey 8000lb winch. The front winch is electric built
using a starter motor from a B29 [Bomber].
In exchange for the free
service, he asks those in his debt for the permission to film these
recoveries for his channel on YouTube. Check them out here for more
