Review of Interco's Super Swamper SX / TSL Mud Tire
The Super Swamper SX / TSL (TSL = Three Stage
Lug) can be described in one word. EXTREME.
The Super Swamper TSL type tire is built on the principles of the original Swamper
78 series which, literally and figuratively
"broke new ground" when it was first
introduced back in 1970 by Interco Tire Corporation.
The Super Swamper TSL / SX is king of offroad bias ply mud tires
that not only offers excellent traction in mud and on the rocks
but surpasses all others in terms of extreme durability.
Built with up to a 10 ply rating and up to a 6
ply rating in the sidewall, Super Swamper SX is known
as one of the most extreme offroad tires able to take
abuse well beyond what other tires are capable of. When aired down into
single digits, the Super Swamper TSL SX will bulge and
flex conforming around rocks and terrain for
exceptional traction. The proven and patented
three stage lug design excels in any terrain thrown at
it with rapid self-cleaning and an aggressive lug
pattern that chews through the mud. Sidewall
protection comes from sidewall ply ratings and
wrap-around tread designed to protect and propel.
This tire's bottom line is it
was designed to survive serious off-road abuse.
Over time and through abuse this tire may possibly
develop ominous looking cracks in the sidewall rubber
but most users of this extreme tire say it is only
cosmetic and nothing to worry about. The
compromise that suffers with this tire is that it is
not a good street tire. The inherent bias ply
characteristics lead to poor handling on-road.
However as a tire designed for extreme offroad abuse,
this tire would be an excellent tire for a dedicated
offroader or trailered 4x4. Available sizes range from
a 4 ply 29x10.50-15LT up to a 38x12.50-16.5LT and 38.5-14.5LT
in 10 ply ratings.

description of this tire:
Super Swamper TSL/SX
The Super Swamper TSL/SX was designed for extremely
tough off road conditions where sidewall strength and
protection is needed to withstand the severe scuffing
from running in ruts and snagging roots and rocks.
This tire has a strong nylon or polyester bias ply
body with dual belts under the tread and wrap-a-round
lugs. The sidewall lugs not only protect the sidewall
but also provide extra traction when climbing out of
ruts.
