Klune-V 4-to-1 Under-Drives Now Available With Ford 31-spline Input
Klune-V has announced that it's 4-to-1 "David" under-drive gear box can now be had with built-in Ford 31-spline input capability. That means it can now be bolted up directly to a variety of Ford transmissions without the use of an adapter. This is a good thing because the shorter the transmission/transfer case combo, the longer the driveshaft you can have.
This sturdy bolt-in gearbox was originally developed to provide extreme "shiftable" multiple low ranges for (of course) Jeep Wrangler applications. While its 2.7 ratio brother, the "Goliath" would bolt in to Chevys and Fords without adapters, the 4 to one "David" model needed adapters to bolt to Ford transmissions. We have now added FORD 31 spline input capabilities to the "David" Model. For example, imagine a Ford Bronco, with say a 302. Say you bolt in an AOD trans for overdrive. The Klune David now will bolt directly to a 4WD AOD (or NP435, C6, ZF, T18, E4OD...). It will then bolt to a Bronco Dana 20 with a 1" adapter. It will bolt to a Ford 208, 205, BW1356, and such, either directly or with a 3/4" spacer. Simple. You’re driving on the highway in overdrive. You get to the trailhead, air down. Shift into stock low range for the easy first mile of the trail. Now it starts to get rougher. shift the Tcase into Hi, and the Klune into Lo. Now you are in a 4:1, a good ratio for general "rough" stuff. Then there is a creek crossing with a bunch of large boulders you need to pick through. Shift both boxes into low and idle through, feet off the pedals, crawling with the tires turning about 2 RPM. On the other side is a sand hill you gotta climb. The guys with real deep gears are having a hard time because they can't get enough tire speed to climb it in Lo range, and lug down in hi range. Klune-V "Extreme Underdrive" Basic Information
Klune-V is an Extreme Underdrive is an underdrive gearbox that bolts in place between the transmission and transfer case. Called "extreme," because the underdrive multiplies your existing gear reduction by up to 4 times, rather than a usual underdrive of 1.2 times, or so. It is intended for extreme four-wheel-drive applications, rather than towing or gear splitting in a big truck. It works equally well with both manual and automatic transmissions.

Full Warranty
Both units are physically the same size, and have the same bolt pattern. These units are new-manufactured, purpose-built units, which come with a full one year warranty. While similar to "dual transfer case" units in function, they are not built up from cut or sectioned used transfer cases.
