Silver Lake Sand Dunes Area - Sand, sun, and fun await you at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes nestled between the shores of Lake Michigan and Silver Lake in Oceana County. The perfect spot for a family vacation, the Silver Lake area abounds with so many choices for recreation, acommodation, dining and shopping that you are guaranteed to be happy, comfortable, and satisfied no matter what your tastes. Spend the morning on the dunes, the afternoon in the water, and finish your day in the village of Silver Lake--you won't have to worry about running out of things to do. Whether you are looking for excitement or relaxation, make Silver Lake and the Silver Lake Sand Dunes your choice for a complete vacation.
The dunes have been open for driving since 1947, when Mac Woods first started giving his Floradale guest rides in his homemade dune buggies.
Bordering Lake Michigan and Silver Lake, the remarkable Silver Lake Sand Dune Access area consists of nearly 2,000 acres of rolling sand hills 1.5 miles wide and 3 miles long.
Divided into three sections, the northern area is reserved for off-road vehicles where you can test your vehicle and your sand driving skill. Jeep Tours and Buggy Rentals are available if you are reluctant to use your own vechicle.

This place feels like bafung egypt. In middle summer it's probably best, but early summer had not alot of people for a vac. spot. So that's good if you want peace and quiet. If you're young and wild I think this place should be overlooked. I am not wealthy so maybe that's why I didn't enjoy it, but everywhere is like this lately. With a Boat($150+day) And/Or a Dune Buggy(4x4)($250/3hrs.) You probably would have fun. But the whole place is restrictioned: You ride where we say, or not! In a circle yeah. 12 o'clock lights are out (really, can't even see dunes)and shut up, People are sleeping!!! Have fun but I'll go to Wisconsin where there's better tourism and FISHING...
