Description:

The Kendall Mountain Trail is located immediately to the Southeast of Silverton. In fact, the trailhead is right there in town, at the intersection of 14th Street and CR 33. Ranging in elevation from 9,200 feet in town, to nearly 13,000 feet at some of the peaks in the area, the Kendall Mountain Trail is a great “close, short” trail to do if you only have a few hours available. Or you can spend all day exploring the numerous off-shoots leading to several other mountains and lakes in the area. The trail as plotted below, covers just a fraction of what’s available to explore. One of the “coolest” places on the trail is at Waypoint KM01-12, which overlooks Silverton from 3500 feet above the town! There are also numerous mines in the area, and an old bus near Waypoint KM01-25. The Kendall Mountain Trail is just around 15 miles long round trip and takes between 2 hours to 4 hours to drive, depending on where you stop and how much time you spend exploring.
