Poison Spider ORV Area Recreation Opportunities
Diverse recreation opportunities abound throughout the area administered by the Casper Field Office. Twenty minutes south of Casper is the Muddy Mountain Environmental Education area; 30 minutes away are two lakes - Alcova and Pathfinder. Goldeneye Wildlife Recreation Area is also just minutes from Casper. If you enjoy off-road vehicle riding, the 200-acre Poison Spider off-road vehicle area lies 10 miles west of Casper. The walls of Fremont Canyon near Pathfinder Reservoir offer excellent world class rock climbing.
The North Platte River is a favorite recreation spot for many Casperites. Public access is available along the river at 13 different places.
The south Big Horn Mountains, the Oregon/Mormon Pioneer National Historic Trails and the Bates Hole area in southern Natrona County provide additional opportunities for a variety of recreational experiences.
Hunting for deer, elk, antelope, rabbits, upland bird, and waterfowl is also a popular activity on the public lands managed by the Casper Field Office.
