Mickey Thompson Competition Claw
Like many of the major manufacturers of Mud Terrain tires, Mickey Thompson, who is owned by the Cooper Tire & Rubber Company, developed the Competition Claw to be a serious contender in the sport of rock crawling. The Competition Claw is very similar to the Mickey Thompson Baja Claw® Radial with an extremely aggressive tread design that wraps far down onto the sidewalls for extreme protection in extreme situations. The Competition Claw features a very flexible nylon construction to conform to to terrain found in the abnormal surfaces of a rock crawling competition and a soft, tacky, tear resistant tread compound, to get as much grip as possible in the toughest terrains. Sidewalls feature a cut resistant sidewall compound that aids in resisting abuse that would ripe into the otherwise vulnerable sidewall of many other serious Mud Terrain tires. While this tire is made specifically for rock crawling, it excels in other formidable terrains like sand, mud, snow and the challenging logging trails of the northwest and Canadian territories. The Competition Claw is D.O.T. approved for highway use. Tire wear on the highway will be more elevated than most tires due to the Competition Claws softer compound and noise levels are elevated on the highway. Size availability is limited to 35x13.00-15 and 37x13.00-17.

New D.O.T. Approved Competition Rock Crawl Tire Provides Extreme Traction For Rock Crawling And Drives You Home On The Street
Stow, Ohio- Mickey Thompson's new Competition Claw was developed especially for competition rock crawling. Tested at courses worldwide by some of the best drivers around, this tire is a proven performer conquering the toughest obstacles thrown at it. With a super soft rubber compound and a flexible construction this tire wraps around rocks and climbs over obstacles like no other tire has done before. Currently it is available in sizes 37x13.00-17 (Part #2640) and 35x13.00-15 (Part#2657).
The Competition Claw features flexible nylon construction to conform to abnormal surfaces, a soft, tacky, tear resistant tread compound, and a tough cut resistant sidewall compound.
This tire is made specifically for rock crawling but is D.O.T. approved for highway use to get you there and back.
Note: During competition, due to low air pressure, tire flex and gripping ability of the compound, these tires may require bead lock wheels to prevent tire slippage.

Cons:

We've got some great trails within a few hours of here and I have a set of the 37" Competition Claws as a 2nd set on my Toyota Land Cruiser. Driving an hour on these tires is a little noisy but once on the trail and aired down to 8 PSI, they kick some butt. I've abused the tread a bit and its pretty beat up but they're holding up great. They get great grip on some slick boulders fields and on the sloppy trail they grip great. I used to pop the beads alot until I got a set of bead locks. Definitely get bead locks if you use this tire. Otherwise, great tire.

Soft and sticky - tough tire - light weight - awesome sidewall tread

Cons:

Best tires I've ever run. I've run the 38.5x16x15 on steel beadlocks. Now I have a used set of 40x13.5x18 on aluminum double beadlocks on the way. CAN'T WAIT FOR THEM TO GET HERE !!!!
We rock crawl a lot and do the trails in Michigan and Indiana mostly.
Amazing tration. Very under marketed. Kind of the wild horse of offroad traction. Never a fan of the radials but I'm a fan now. I didn't even know the comp comp existed till I found my first set on an offroad board.
