Description: Optima YellowTop Battery

OPTIMA YellowTop Batteries are designed as DEEP-CYCLE Batteries

OPTIMA YellowTop Batteries are designed as DEEP-CYCLE batteries and have many uses. Everything from Recreational vehicles, golf carts, electric wheelchairs, alarm systems, emergency lighting, backup power systems, orbiting satellite communication systems, emergency vehicles etc can use these batteries. Anything that uses batteries in a cyclic manor, benefits greatly from these batteries. Unusually for DEEP-CYCLE batteries, they are happy to produce large currents and so can also double as starter batteries. This allows the use of a single (deep-cycle) battery in a boat/car/generator/race vehicle, or one with auxiliary systems or equipment that runs when the engine is stopped. Also suitable for heavy winching situations where the battery is drained due to constant winching. This kind of treatment would mean very short battery life in the case of a "conventional" style battery.

OPTIMA delivers high current regardless of temperature. The OPTIMA delivers no less than 800 AMPS at 0 degrees F and as much as 1,100 AMPS at warmer temperatures! In addition, Optima will absorb nearly 100% of the recharge current from alternators and battery chargers.

The Optima will consistently deliver 1,100 cranking amps for 25 to 30 seconds. At only 38 pounds this is comparable to batteries 4 times its size and weight.

SEALED, VIBRATION RESISTANT, AND LEAK PROOF EVEN WHEN BROKEN
In an OPTIMA battery, the lead plates and separator are wound and tightly compressed into a cell tube so they can't move, shed, or break, even in severe shock and vibration applications. In independent SAE tests, the OPTIMA kept working after being subjected to vibrations up to 5G for 12 hours. As in all AGM TECHNOLOGY BATTERIES, there is no "free acid" that can leak out or spill and the OPTIMA can be operated effectively in any position -- even upside down -- without any risk of leaking and because it is sealed, no corrosion can form on the posts, connectors, or cables.

Pros: Boost in Power!
Cons: Price

I purchased an Optima Yellow top deep cycle battery on April 16, 2008. I must say that I was extremely hesitant to drop $216 on a battery however after reading various reviews the decision was made. After using an Autozone Duralast gold for the past five years it finally wore out. The good thing was the return on trade which netted me $47 that helped offset the cost of the Optima.
Another reason was the extra stuff I have in my 99 Pontiac Bonneville. Which uses GM's 3800 V6. Including MB Quart Component Mid range and tweeters with dual crossovers, two 6x9's, an Infinity 12 inch sub, and a Sony Explode 400 Watt amp. Before installation the system was great, afterwards a MUCH improved very clean and loud system that almost jumped out of the car. It is as if the system multiplied or something. It it now louder and cleaner than ever! I highly recommend the Optima Yellow Top deep cycle battery for anyone who was debating it its worth it. G Chatman, Nashville, TN

Pros: Great power output.
Cons: Battery has a short life.

I purchased the Optima yellow top because of high end stereo equipment. Kinda stuck with getting the yellow top because of the limited space between the fire wall, and shock mount in my Civic. I used he battery to power up a clean 2200 watts of power, 1400 of it running two JL 15" subs. The battery ran the system very well through the summer time, but come winter when the car would sit in my garage the cold would eat away the charge within 3 days. I have gone through 3 yellow tops in 3 years. I purchased it ($140.00) from Pep Boys, and once a year they replaced it for free. I recently went to Pep Boys with the intent of purchasing a new battery, and was told they pulled all the yellow top Optimas from their stock, due to several customer complaint/returns. I personally dont believe my $140 would of been well invested if Pep Boys wouldnt have done the returns for me.

Pros: Fully Sealed, Great Power, Long Lasting
Cons: Price, Size/Shape

I have had the battery for 6 years in my `02 Rodeo Sport. Worked perfect, was able to maintain heavy loads as well as keep a charge well after the engine was turned off. I will buy another one for heavy duty off road use!

Pros: ultimate battery for me
Cons: none

I abused this Battery in my Jeep TJ, winching offroad lights, rock lights, extra heater, and power station. it never gave me trouble. I have since sold it 2 years ago it was 2 years old then, my son does see it come in to the dealership where he works for oil changes etc and he is sure its the same battery(from the red mud stains on it from mudding it). I will be purchasing one for my new Jeep with in the next 6 months with out a doubt.
