Jeep Transfercases
The Jeep transfer case pages cover stock
transfer cases used in Jeeps from 1941 until the present and they cover
transfer case upgrades.
One after another the Jeeps were ripping though the mud holes.
Though the sign said this was a 5 foot deep hole, it didn't appear to be
anywhere near that deep. Perhaps that gave a few guys a little
more confidence to try the adjacent hole without checking the depth
first.
"Yes it's Deep" the sign said. But who reads the signs anyway? This
guy decided to hit the hole in his fresh project Jeep equipped with an AMC
360 and 33" mud tires. He got about halfway and that was it as far
as forward momentum was concerned. Barely above an idle and the
waterline, the engine finally sucked down enough water, probably through
the exhaust, to choke it into hydro locking. He wasn't getting out
under his own power.
Climbing over Jeep and into the back, he grabbed a long chain and hooked
half of it to his bumper.
His buddy in a Red Jeep JK inched closer to the disabled CJ along the
near side bank to try to give him a pull. However without much
traction he couldn't budge the high centered dead weight.
That's when Mike from Jeepfan.com brought over his Rubicon.
Hooking up a tow strap to the chain, he was able to get a much better
angle on the pull and with BFG Mud Terrain KM2 Tires planted in better
terrain, backed the CJ right out of the watering hole.

Once back on terra firma, it was quickly discovered that
the starter wasn't turning the engine over, though it was trying.
Probably hydrolocked, meaning a cylinder sucked in some water. Since
water can't compress, that water filled cylinder has to be drained.
So he pulled all the spark plugs and began turning over the engine.
Water was spitting out of the
#5 cylinder.
After a few good cranks, he put the plugs back in, then fired it up.
The AMC 360 coughed and belched up a bunch of steam, but it was running.

restoration of stock parts like the frame, body, engine and
driveline components to upgraded aftermarket improvements
