Offroad in the heart of the
Anthracite Coal Region
Coal Regions of Pennsylvania
Some of the hill climbs up here are not for faint of heart.
Many of the guys who take on these long, steep hill climbs are well
seasoned offroaders who have very purpose built buggies and rigs
that have a low center of gravity, and paddle tires that find
themselves at home on these hills. If you do decide to visit
the area, be smart. The area can be downright dangerous if you
don't know what you are doing. Know your vehicle and know it's
limitations.
Any give weekend, you might find hundreds of people up here.
Not just above this particular small town, but in many of the
surrounding areas where the local law doesn't pose significant
restrictions. In some areas a new trend is becoming popular where
permits are issued to go offroad legally.
Its almost just as much fun watching these guys rip up the long steep
hill climbs as it is drive up yourself. Many of these rigs are
well built machine. Other's make you do a doubletake.
A little time in the green waters and their ready for more wheeling!
