Offroad in the heart of the
Anthracite Coal Region
Coal Regions of Pennsylvania

Stretching through the state of Pennsylvania is a region that once represented a huge source of the country's energy needs; when coal was king.  Today the remnants of the monstrous coal industry has left behind small towns and incredible man-made landscapes of towering mountains and vast strips of barren land.  While many people look at these landscapes as scares on the beautiful Appalachian Mountains, there are a large group of people who see these landscapes as playgrounds.  Offroad playgrounds where 4x4's, Quads and Buggies can play.  Located in the heart of this region are several small communities where people can go to have fun.  Towering above this tiny town are several man-made mountains of slag and mining debris that form incredible hillclimbs and challenging landscapes.  Every day it seems more and more people gather here for a day, or a weekend of offroad activities; hill climbs, trail riding, camping and loads of fun.

Spectacular views are everywhere.  From vast stretches of land to perches well above the town where you can see for miles.

Like many weekends up here, a large ground of diverse 4x4's gather and setup camp sites in areas that have been favorite secluded spots for years.  Everywhere there are reminders of days past, when the coal industry was in it's prime.

In the back country, you'll find lakes where a dip will cool you down after a hard day of 4-wheeling and give you a chance to wash off the layers of coal dust.
