Missing my small home town in PA has inspired me to write this song

A Town No More
Once a thriving place but now deceased
The caution signs speak of fatal debris
Fractured roads with a fire so deep
It all grew prone to collapse beneath my feet
And all I can do is let the sorrow set in
I saw the smoke float away like the people once did
In such disrepair it struggles just to exist
Only a handful left
Pry with all your might the boards off the windows
My home is not condemned
In my restless dreams I see it resurrected
Take me deep within
I can make my bed from ashes
I’ve come to love the fire and the heat
I can’t live if I’m not in Centralia
For a place so far gone, it welcomes me
It seems to breathe, its seems to sleep
And I can almost put it back together in my dreams
The rain puts out the fire, and the footsteps come alive
The trees turn green and I can see their eyes
They are my family, my friends
But I wake up and they are burned again
Pry with all your might the boards off the windows
My home is not condemned
In my restless dreams I see it resurrected
Take me deep within
I can make my bed from ashes
I’ve come to love the fire and the heat
I can’t live if I’m not in Centralia
The snow here used to cover up my tears of pain
The alleys used to echo the sound of the rain
Smoking hillsides now take their place
Can I see your face?
Can I see your face?
I enter now to an alternate sleep
Its not quite as real as what I felt under my feet before
But what I choose not to see, won’t come to my door
Pry with all your might the boards off the windows
My home is not condemned
In my restless dreams I see it resurrected
Take me deep within
I can make my bed from ashes
I’ve come to love the fire and the heat
I can’t live if I’m not in Centralia
