Dutch Wonderland is a
48-acre family amusement park located east of Lancaster,
Pennsylvania in beautiful Lancaster County. Founded in
1963 by Earl E. Clark and his family of Lancaster PA, Dutch
Wonderland started as a modest 18 acre family park with 4 rides.
From those humble beginnings, Dutch Wonderland quickly grew in
popularity to become a charming, well-liked family destination
appealing primarily to families with small children. The
Clark family later expanded the family oriented amusement park
to include the Old Mill Stream Campground and the Discover
Lancaster County History Museum. Since then the and
was named Dutch Wonderland Family Amusement Complex has grown to
a 48 acre park with over kid friendly 30 rides, shows and
interactive attractions. The original entrance to the park
still stands as a real stone castle facade that was built by
Earl Clark before he opened the park in 1963. With added attractions like Milk Bossie the Cow, ring the school bell, meet live farm animals or
visit Duke’s Lagoon water play area, as well as special events
throughout the season, there is plenty to keep young children
active for hours of fun, living up the the parks theme "Kingdom
for Kids". The park and related
properties include the Wonderland Mini-Golf area, the Old Mill
Stream Campground, and The Gift House at Kitchen Kettle Village.
In 2001, the Dutch Wonderland Family Amusement Complex was
purchased by Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company, which also
owns and operates Hershey Park in nearby Hershey, Pennsylvania.
Today it is owned and operated by Wonderland Amusement
Management LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hershey
Entertainment & Resorts Company.
The park today has 34 rides as well as an interactive water play
area named Duke's Lagoon and shows and events all throughout the
season. During the extended season there are events for
Halloween and Christmas such as "Happy Hauntings" and "Dutch
Winter Wonderland". Dutch Wonderland is conveniently
located in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, which offers
shopping, sight-seeing, and an experience in the beautiful
timeless area known as Amish country. The area also offers
plenty of lodging, entertainment and dining.
