What would a weekend be without a fallen tree to clear.
Standard equipment in my Jeep is a chainsaw. Old reliable did a good job
of cutting the large tree up, clearing the way down into the valley, towards
the stream.
$3495.26
The Death Dive! $3495.26 is what this moment of fun
cost. Steve YJ took a big gulp of muddy water right into the #1 cylinder
at about 4000 RPMs and BANG! Piston rod. Did someone say snorkel
for the Spring trip?
The next few hours consisted of a hill that Steve's disabled YJ
needed to ascend in order to get back to camp. Even with plenty of
horsepower and front and rear locking diffs, Stephen had to give his Warn winch
a workout towing the YJ up the hill. Once the hill was cleared though, it
was clear sailing back to camp where Steve just happen to have his diesel
Roll-back waiting.
11:30 PM after dinner and a little time hanging around at the
cabin, we headed over to a clearing to load up the YJ onto the roll-back and
prepare it for the long journey home the next morning. Not exactly the
greatest way to end a weekend but one that we'll remember. Other than the $3495.26
modification to the engine, it was overall a fun weekend.
